Putting your files
in the right place.
When you log into your FTP account,
you are a user. if you are the site admin, you are the superuser for the domain
and can add users etc.
FTP needs a username and a password to gain access, it will always log you into
your own folder /users/username and present you with what
is depicted below.

If you placed your pages in the above
/web folder your URL would be www.yourdomainname.ext/~someuser
Obviously the site admin is going to want pages for the main site in www.yourdomainname.ext,
and this is achieved
by going UP 2 levels till you see what is depicted below. This is WEB ROOT and
the main sites files should go in /web
